The Coolest Dreadlocks Accessories in 2019

February 20, 2019 By Stephanie

Having dreadlocks is one of the coolest hairstyles you will ever get to wear in this lifetime. However, as cool as they are on their own, sometimes you need an accessory that takes you the extra mile. Something that sends a message about who you are as an individual, about your personal style or perfectly fitted for a special occasion. I’m talking about dreadlocks accessories, of course!

There are countless of beads, charms, and coils out there that you can buy or make yourself to put in your locs. However, I’ve narrowed it all down to a few categories that will make it a lot easier for you to understand what dreadlocks accessories are all about. They will also give you a clue what to look for next time when you go shopping!

Contents

  • Metallic Wrapped Coils with Charms
  • Hand Carved Unique Dreadlocks Accessories
  • Dreadlocks Accessories for Special Occasions
  • Cuffs for Your Dreads

Metallic Wrapped Coils with Charms

Metallic coils are among the most common dreadlocks accessories. In fact, I’m quite sure you’ve already seen them if you’re a newbie or you already own some if you have had dreads for a while.

However, I’m here to introduce you to wrapped coils with charms. They are a fantastic way to personalize your dreads and make them stand out in a way only you can. I’ve chosen a few random examples to give you a taste of what these could be. But you can buy some that speak directly about you, your passions, hobbies, the places you traveled, and everything you love most.

Some of the easiest coiled dreadlocks accessories come with charms made of crystals. This is a lemon or citrine one that has been paired with faux golden pearls made of little plastic beads.

If you’re looking for a beach or ocean theme in case you’re going on holiday or simply have a lot of love for the waves in your heart, you cannot miss out with some lovely charms shaped like seashells or turtles hanging off your dreadlocks accessories. I’ve also chosen a Hamsa charm to ward off bad luck and keep you safe from harm as well as an oversized purple feather. Because sometimes you need to dress up and add a little pizzazz to your wardrobe! 1 2 3 4 5 Hand Carved Unique Dreadlocks Accessories This is one of my favorite categories when it comes to dreadlocks accessories. The reason is that not only are the little jewels hand carved, but they are also unique. This means that there’s a high chance you are the only one who has them. Or you can contact the artist who made them and send them your own ideas and designs and ask him or her to work off those. Let’s start with a superb and outstanding set of Ethnic dreadlocks beads. They are made to represent an African mask and a Mexican sugar skull. If you want something a little more seasonal, you can always go for this set of two autumn leaves. They are both 9 mm and perfect for a romantic stroll in September! Dreadlock beads with a celebrity’s face on them are always a good idea, especially if they have been hand painted. They can also make a great gift for a loved one. I’ve also found the cutest pair of dreadlocks accessories shaped like mushrooms. They have been handmade from Polymer clay, go with any hair color, and will allow you to become a true fairy princess! But my absolute favorite are these hand-carved dread beads. They are made of wood, have a complex twist to them, and delicate flower embellishments. The center of each flower has a purple inlay which is actually made of real Amethyst. These dreadlocks accessories are reserved for special occasions. Which brings me to this. 6 7 8 9 10 Dreadlocks Accessories for Special Occasions There are a few moments in your life when you will want to decorate your locs with the most beautiful hair pieces you can find. So I’ve selected a few dreadlocks accessories to go with them. For example, here’s the cutest set ever. It’s made up of a witch’s cauldron, bat, and a skull. All three dreadlock beads are molded out of Fimo and are perfect for your next Halloween costume! Are you going to a wedding or are you the bride herself? No problem! These are dreadlock rings topped with budding artificial pink flowers. They have a gorgeous brass finish that gives them an antiquated look so that you can be the perfect bohemian bride! I haven’t forgotten about Valentine’s Day! These are handmade dreadlock coils with little fuchsia roses and green leaves decorating them. The sparkles you see are genuine Swarovski crystals because you and your dreads deserve the best! 13 14 15 Cuffs for Your Dreads Cuffs are very simple dreadlocks accessories that you can buy in your local shops or online. They are typically made or ordinary metals but you can also get some in silver or gold if you’re ready to splurge. The best thing about them is that you can wear as many as you want because they have such a simple design. It’s important to mention as well that cuffs are unisex. They can and are worn by both boys and girls. 11 12 As you can see, dreadlocks accessories come in many shapes and sizes. They range from simple Fimo clay ones that cost almost nothing to silver and gold ones and even dread coils with gemstones. It all depends on your personal style, the type of dreads you have on, whether you’re a boy or girl or the occasion you want them for! Are you ready to start dreadlocks?
